WHAT MY FUTURE SELF KNEW

A field note on trust, time, and the paperwork that changed everything.

Let me start here: this is a story about what trusting your future self can lead you to. Because had I not trusted the actions I was being guided to take, I wouldn't have taken them. And the me that exists right now — in this moment, in this now — would not be standing where I'm standing.

So let's go back.

It was COVID. I was not thinking about being a homeowner. I was not focused on much of anything outside of the evolution of my soul. That was it. That was the whole agenda.

A friend texted me out of nowhere. She said: hey, just fill this out. I don't know what's gonna happen, but just fill it out. She was talking about paperwork for student loan forgiveness.

My first thought was doubt. Not the loud, dramatic kind — just the quiet, practical kind. That wouldn't happen for me. Student loan forgiveness felt like something that existed for other people, in other circumstances, in some future I couldn't see from where I was standing.

But I had a different thought underneath that one: if I don't do this, future me is going to regret it.

So I filled it out.

And then, mid-process, something shifted.

My higher self said: put the current school on there too.

I was enrolled at LA Film School at the time. It is not a cheap school. It did not feel like a realistic ask. It felt like a stretch — like I was reaching for something that wasn't mine to reach for.

I added it anyway.

Not because I was confident. Not because I had proof it would work. Because the instruction was clear, and I have learned to follow the instruction even when the logic isn't there yet. That is the framework. That is how my higher self communicates — in flashes, in glimpses, in quiet nudges that don't explain themselves. And my job is to honor them.

So I did. And then I let it go.

Fast forward through years. Through moments. Through a lot of good things, bad things, sad things, happy things, questions, answers — a whole lot. Life moving the way life moves, through time, through now after now after now.

Until 2026.

I received a notification. Sixty thousand dollars in student loans — forgiven.

And what I felt in that moment was not shock. It was recognition. It was like watching my own life from a bird's eye view and finally being able to see the whole board. Oh. That's why I did that. So I could be here, right now, in this.

I reached back across time to that version of myself — the one in COVID, the one full of doubt, the one who added the film school anyway — and I said: I got the part that you played. And now I'm about to play mine.

Because here is what time travel actually is.

It is not a machine. It is not a portal. It is the understanding that the you who exists right now is already communicating with the you who existed then — and the you who will exist next. Every instruction you follow. Every flash you honor. Every stretch you make even when it doesn't make sense. You are building something for a version of yourself you haven't met yet.

And that version of you — the one standing in a now you can't see from here — is depending on you to trust it.

I'm now in a space where I want to purchase a home. Where homeownership is in my energy field. And had my past self not listened, had she dismissed the paperwork, had she not added the school — the me in this now would not have sixty thousand dollars of debt cleared when I need it most.

The dots only connect looking back. But trust is what connects them in the first place.
